Purpose

The Launch Foundation has a vision of helping tens of thousands of disadvantaged women nationwide learn how to make empowering decisions that affect their future and the safety of their children. We created the Launch Foundation in 2006 to fill a crucial gap in the services currently being offered to disadvantaged women who are about to return home from shelters and prisons to care for their families.

Our recent Survey of Domestic Violence Shelters reveals that many of these women and children return to the same dire circumstances from which they had previously escaped. And our prisons report an 80 percent recidivism rate among women inmates after they are released.  Our survey also indicates that the unique and intensive 8-week workshop series teaching strong decision-making skills being offered by the Launch Foundation is greatly needed.
